All-Star Weekend preview with Jamal Crawford
The three-time winner of the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award and current TNT analyst joined Chris Haynes and me to talk about his looming debut as a slam-dunk contest judge
Jamal Crawford, one of just two three-time winners in the history of the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award alongside Lou Williams, has never attended All-Star Weekend.
Until now.
Seen these days as a studio host for TNT on Tuesday nights after two decades as a flammable off-the-bench scorer, Crawford is indeed in Salt Lake City to serve as one of the courtside judges Saturday night for the league’s annual slam-dunk contest.
To talk about that assignment, as well as a slew of current and historical NBA topics, Jamal joined his Turner teammate Chris Haynes and me to record a podcast Wednesday night that dropped Thursday morning.
Here’s the link to the latest episode of #thisleague UNCUT:
In case you missed it, I’ve also enclosed a tweeted sample of Jamal’s views regarding the Phoenix Suns and his contention that Kevin Durant will settle in with his new squad with minimal complications compared to the usual adjustment period teams face after a major in-season trade.
Other topics we covered with Jamal include:
🏀 His 51 points in Dallas in April 2019 on the same night Dirk Nowitzki played his final home game with the Mavericks.
🏀 The transition from playing in the NBA for 20 seasons to television work.
🏀 The studio reaction to a memorable interview Chris conducted Tuesday night with the Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard.
🏀 Why NBA players, even All-Stars, take being picked last in the All-Star captain draft as such an insult.
🏀 And the devotion to BlackBerrys that Jamal and I shared.
