Kyrie Trade: Full podcast breakdown
The latest edition of #thisleague UNCUT that I co-hosted with Chris Haynes goes deep on all angles of Dallas' acquisition of Kyrie Irving
The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns made serious trade bids for Kyrie Irving.
The Brooklyn Nets decided Sunday to take the Dallas Mavericks' offer instead.
All the ins and outs of the season's first true blockbuster deal — what it means for the two trade principals as well as those two aforementioned teams that didn't get him — are the focus for Chris Haynes and me in our latest episode of #thisleague UNCUT.
The pod dropped Monday morning. Please give it a listen if you want to hear the inside story on how this deal went down from the two reporters particularly plugged into the discussions.
At the end of the podcast, we also talked a bit about the historic achievement LeBron James should realize this week by passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time leading scorer ... and Mr. Haynes’ chances to be on the scene when it happens.
Great pod, Marc. Wish the Mavs lots of success, but still don’t like the trade for them in a vaccuum. Now, if they they can turn Christian Wood into a wing (other than Robert Covington), then maybe they got something cooking here.
So, with no Kyrie, I guess for the Lakers, I’m willing to take anything if we can get Russ off the books. Mainly, just so we can have some mid-tier contracts for next year and beyond.
If I had a dream trade now, it would be to try and get Chris Paul and Jae Crowder in a complicated 4 team trade involving the Spurs and Toronto. Feels like Fred Van Vleet, GTJ, Ayton & Poeltl all could be some wildcard names that could help get that trade done. Sadly, though, that kind of complicated trade probably only gets done in the off-season come draft time...
Still, “Things are heating up”... Thanks for allowing us fans get a glimpse into the trade week wheeling & dealing! 🔥🔥🔥
