LeBron and the Mavericks
The true state of this connection, as well as Kyrie Irving's role and the latest on his looming free agency, is all explained here
LONDON — On Monday morning I posted a story with the latest from the NBA coaching carousel that revealed Dallas' interest in sounding out Jeff Van Gundy about a possible return to coaching as an assistant to Jason Kidd.
I mistakenly anticipated that this would be the most notable headline-grabber involving the Mavericks on this NBA Finals off-day.
Turns out that faulty presumption lasted only a couple of hours. My podcast partner Chris Haynes reported in his latest Bleacher Report piece that Mavericks free agent-to-be Kyrie Irving wants team officials to explore trade pathways to acquiring LeBron James so the former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates can form a Big Three in Big D with Luka Dončić.
