MADRID — No team in NBA history has played more preseason games abroad on a single trip, or logged more air miles, than the 2023-24 Dallas Mavericks.
It is not a distinction, truth be told, they are likely to look back on with deep fondness.
That much was clear by Thursday morning, when the weary Mavericks made their return journey to Dallas after 10-plus days in the United Arab Emirates and Spain ... on their third long-haul flight to get where they needed to be and back.
I arrived in Madrid a few hours before the Mavericks did and shadowed them throughout their España stay.
