The NBA’s 30 teams resume full-speed business Monday in the wake of the league’s inaugural In-Season Tournament with 18 teams in the standings holding a winning record.
Last season, by comparison, 16 teams took winning records into the playoffs.
It’s certainly still early to focus too much on records, but we’ve also passed the 20-game marker that teams historically point to as a juncture for meaningful evaluation, so it’s fair game to try to assess the Eastern and Western Conference ladders and ponder whether there is an actual favorite for the Larry O’Brien Trophy with a quarter of the regular season gone.
