NBA free agency fest with Jake Fischer

Can you think of a better way to prepare for the official opening of the offseason marketplace in #thisleague than a near 70-minute visit with the Bleacher Report scribe? Me neither

NBA free agency officially starts later today at 6 PM ET. Something special, then, was a must to tip off this hugely significant Thursday on the calendar.

So I reached out to my reporting machine pal Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report and hosted him, along with a record crowd, for an hour of interactive basketball chat via Spotify Live when the clock struck 12:01 AM ET.

We talked Dejounte Murray to Atlanta — appropriate because Jake's coverage has largely led the way on that trade. We talked James Harden and his likely reunion with P.J. Tucker in Philadelphia. We talked New York vs. Dallas (and Miami?) in the Jalen Brunson Sweepstakes.

Then we went rapid fire and hit on at least 20 more free agents and potential trade candidates. We covered tons of ground ... from Deandre Ayton to Malik Monk to Zach LaVine to Isaiah Hartenstein to Bradley Beal to Blake Griffin to Kevon Looney to John Collins to Mo Bamba to Rudy Gobert to Victor Oladipo. I've also failed to mention other names and topics that we touched on because it was impossible to keep track. The hour and change went too fast.

The session, despite starting way after dark, drew an audience of roughly 3,500 at its peak. Yet only full-fledged subscribers to The Stein Line, as always, get a full replay on The Morning After in case they missed it.

So if you weren't able to join us live ... fear not. Enclosed is the recording to catch up at your leisure before free agency’s opening bell.
