NBA Trade Deadline: Midweek update

I know you didn't want to wait until the weekend for a This Week In Basketball compilation. So here are some bonus dribbles of the latest chatter until we get to the next TWIB

It is Feb. 2.

Almost.

It was closing in on midnight in the Eastern time zone on Feb. 1 when I hit the publish button. And since the NBA, as I’ve noted countless times in the past, operates on Eastern Time, we can safely say that the trade deadline for the 2022-23 season is essentially one week away.

The buzzer for trades sounds officially at 3 PM ET on Feb. 9. Some fresh talking points:
