James Harden, OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam were traded during the season.

Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday were traded right before the season — Holiday twice.

And NBA Trade Deadline Day last Thursday delivered 15 trades, including some significant maneuvering by New York, Dallas and Oklahoma City.

So please!

Stop it already with this trade dudline stuff.

The notion that the final days of the 2023-24 NBA Trade Season were somehow a non-event just because the Atlanta Hawks decided to keep Dejounte Murray is ridiculous.

We were never going to get infinite trades. No league can give you that. Former MVPs were traded at the previous two deadlines; Harden in 2022 and then Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in 2023. It’s not going to be like that every single February.

Besides ...

The Hawks' inaction is hardly considered permanent.

One of the loudest questions leaguewide in the wake of Atlanta's decision to pull Murray from the trading block is: What will the Hawks do next?

Or to put it more direct terms: Could the Hawks ultimately decide to keep Murray and trade Trae Young in the offseason?

The NBA last week selected Atlanta’s Trae Young and Toronto’s Scottie Barnes as All-Star injury replacements for Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid and New York’s Julius Randle.
