Didn't realize there were so many from Dub Nation in your readership, although not surprising, given that, after Dallas, of course, and the iconic Lakers and Knicks, the Warriors might be right up there in mind share.

Quickly on Wemby. Sam Vecine brought this up, but there was a play in the Miami game right before the end of the 1st half, where Wemby was dribbling down the right side and passed it to Tre Jones who stood behind the 3-pt line off the right elbow. Jones immediately throw up a lob before Wemby had even crossed the 3-pt line himself (i.e., Wemby was the same distance from the hoop as Tre). Wemby grabbed the lob just inside the paint and flushed the dunk, making it look routine.

Because he made it look so easy, you don't even realize that, technically, he could have thrown himself an alley-oop from outside the 3-pt line. The space he covers is ridiculous. He doesn't look as athletically powerful as Giannis does when he gets a head of steam and needs only a couple dribbles to get from half court to the rim, but his fluidity and length are really impressive.

Here's the clip..

Cannot wait for Wednesday night. Will be my first in-person Wemby viewing.

AND I just taped an interview with George Gervin for my Saturday radio show. 9-year-old me can't quite believe it ... talking Wemby with The Iceman was a key part of it.

That's awesome. When I was in grade school, my best friend was a budding artist and sent a bunch of sketches of NBA posters to Nike. They sent him a really nice note back with a bunch of amazing posters including the legendary Iceman one.

P.S. I wasn't a Lobos fan in 1978, so no harm, no foul. ;-) I was rooting hard for the fabulous UK Wildcats that spring, as my childhood hero, sophomore PG Kyle Macy, led them to the title.

It's always good to see my fellow Big Blue bleedin Cat fans chime in.

It's a great time for alumni right now. Many of the top guys are UK bred.

Dave Purcell, thank you for partnering with Marc for the survey. One of the many things I LOVE about this Substack. Thanks to you both!!!

Yeah. Not a very exciting topic. Luckily I have another half million people that I can email!

I wouldn’t want to be the country that draws the short straw and has to play any World Cup matches in South America...then have to fly back to Europe and suffer the jet lag before playing another match in a completely different climate and country.

How big of a jump do you think the rockets make this year, Marc?

In the West ... significant jumping will be difficult despite the clear upgrades they've made.

You did well. I sent a survey to 5,000 people last week. My response count?

Zero

With as much as Mavs fans complaint about the current status of the center position... doesn't DHoward make sense for Dallas., I'm sure it will cost close to nothing and he is better than what they have, right???

Just as a note, I didn’t interpret the question about length of season as necessarily meaning that the season should be shortened. I would like it to be spread over a slightly longer period actually, regardless of the # of games.

Fair point. I probably shouldn't jump to any conclusions ...

But I am not necessarily a good sample of the folks who responded.
