Congrats, Marc. Happy to be a part of the substack. And happy to be a year-round subscriber. I know you need the people who just jump on for the deadline coverage, but I’ll always look down on them as not true SteinLiners.

Marc Congratulations 🎊🎉🍾 on your 2yr Anniversary on Substack. Marc I enjoyed meeting after Dirk’s last game Miami. I’ve been reading and following from DMN to SportsCenter ESPN. Appreciate your honest and real takes. Thanks

Beautiful post, Marc. While I appreciate your humility, I'm a firm believer in the old adage that "luck is where opportunity meets preparation." You were ready for the leaps when the openings presented themselves. Congrats and best wishes heading into year three!

Congrats, Marc. I've seen a few people take the Substack route, and it (along w/podcasting, youtube live channels, etc) seems to be the new avenue people in traditional mediums (tv, radio, print) are needing to take to keep themselves relevant as the media landscape changes. You may feel like you were just lucky, but even thinking of taking this path required some amount of foresight. What is definitely true is that, through the years of working at the Dallas Morning News, ESPN, NY Times, you have built a very strong brand as a knowledgeable and diligent reporter, so it's great to see that years long respect rewarded. Happy to have finally joined the Stein Line posse this past month +

I experienced my biggest “holy shit” moment from all things Stein when I saw that Sherman Alexie - one of my favourite writers - was posting regularly.

No way! I wonder what his favorite team is

Congrat Marc. Truly inspiring that you have found success on quite a risky path. Since you have a critical mass of subscribers and you've started a great community in the chat, could I suggest a reader survey? Tim Cato does one annually on The Athletic and it is very interesting, of course his is just Mavs fans so the results and questionsare more narrow and specific.. Would be cool to hear ages, fav team, fav player, gender (I bet 99+% male!), predictions, suggestions, etc. I'm sure you have lots if Mavs and Luka fans but you have many others too. Just a thought! Would keep building the community.

Interesting idea. Will ponder.

Love Daniel's idea. I'm a sociologist and research scientist -- happy to consult on a survey for free if I can help.

Don't think I've ever done a survey. Email me with any ideas or guidance: marcstein@substack.com

Congratulations on Year 2! I have a feeling this newsletter will be an important part of NBA nation for many years to come.

I only have one complaint -- more words spilled on the NY Knicks!

Congratulations again Marc. You should be proud of a wonderful newsletter you write/run/love.
