The last month leading up to the NBA regular season has been unmistakably downbeat, but Golden State's four titles and six trips to the Finals in eight years demand our recognition and praise
I guess if Warriors ownership wants to spend close to a half billion dollars in payroll that’s their prerogative. I ‘m guessing a competitive billionaire owns the Warriors, because they must care more about collecting the trophies than their bottom line. Great to be a Warrior fan, .... I’m a Mavs fan myself.
354, 372, 480. Those are the millions of dollars the Warriors are spending on payroll and luxury tax from last year through next year. Pardon me for not celebrating a team that grossly flouts their agreements with other teams. They're borderline cheaters.
Totally understand the sentiments. But I hear the Warriors just as loudly when they note that every single player they're spending significant money on is a "homegrown" player apart from Wiggins. Let's see how this is addressed in the next CBA, because even Lacob has publicly acknowledged that this is a major talking point in Board of Governors meetings.
That's Lacob moving the goalposts. Many teams develop their own guys, but they also abide by the rules that all teams (supposedly) agreed to. Not the Warriors, though, they just do whatever they want. Windhorst nailed these guys.
What rules are the Warriors not abiding by? If you put in place a hard salary cap, then the Warriors wouldn't be able to pay all of these players. If you put in place a "soft" salary cap, whereby any owner can dig deeper into their wallet and stomach the penalties to field a better team ... then that's by definition abiding by the rules! No?

There's also teams out there that would rather collect tax payments from the Warriors than chase the best possible team they can field.
