It's not a basketball story, obviously, but a proper farewell to Pelé — on the day of his funeral — was a must for this child of the American soccer boom he sparked
Mark, I'm curious., you have posted many personal collectible items that are important to you., from a thermos to shoes. Quite a few, if I recall correctly. Do you have like a big display at home? Place them on shelves in a man cave? Or have them shoved in boxes in a closet somewhere?
When I was a kid, my father took me to an exhibition game on Randall’s Island (if I recall correctly) between Santos and whatever Portuguese team that Eusébio played for. Even as a young guy who knew little about soccer, I found Pelé’s charisma on the pitch to be irresistible. RIP O Rei.
Personally didn't notice the drop in production. Think the most important part is to rest and feel better.
Mailbag question:
It feels like corners of the Pistons fandom are becoming increasingly soured on Dwane Casey. While I attributed the slow season start to injuries to Bagley and Burks, this healthy-ish (as NBA standards go) team, even without Cade, feels like a team under-performing expectations. With Troy Weaver recently receiving an extension, are there any rumblings about potential changes to the coaching staff or other front office positions?
No such rumblings yet. I read a good line on Twitter recently where somebody said something along the lines of: This is where 25 NBA fan bases come to be mad at their coach.

Def not too rigid. Pele is King.
The nets are putting together a nice run, but does anyone actually believe they can hold it together all season?
16-1 gets your attention.
And only 4 of which are current playoff teams.
First of all, get well soon!

Great memory, Ron. That stadium was rough.
