Have two dominant centers ever entered the same conference at relatively the same time? For all of the great big men I can think of, I can't think of an equal who entered the same conference at the same time. Wilt came into Russell's conference a couple years later. Are there more recent examples?
You mean the draft class of Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry, and Desagana Diop didn't tickle your fancy back in the day? 😂
Marcus Camby, Jermaine O'Neal, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were all part of the famous '96 class, but it would take O'Neal a few years (and a scene change) for him to break out, Camby didn't come out of the gates tearing up the league, and Ilgauskas would miss the year with the first of many foot injuries.
The 1989-90 season saw two Cs that were pretty good make their debuts: David Robinson (who had been drafted in '87) and Vlade Divac.
And obviously the '84 class was supposed to be Olajuwan + Bowie, but injuries kept Bowie from living up to his hype.
Great examples. Bowie, sigh -- I was a senior in high school and a huge UK fan, and Bowie was so good at his best and healthiest. Such a shame his body didn't hold up and he became a footnote to MJ's rise.
If only the Mavericks were literally rebounding...
But yes, it’s good to see the big three coming back into their own again -- especially because these teams often benefit from visitors playing back-to-back games, given the relatively short travel time between cities. It’s nice that all three stops are a tough win again.
Hi Marc. Are you on BlueSky at all yet?

Kwame vs. Curry...🤣. Oh man.

Shaq and Alonzo formed a pretty strong rookie duo in 1992-93 ... in an era where there still many traditional centers.
Yes, good call!

Good line ...
